This is my first submission to Illustration Friday; the illustration was done for a children's book several years ago: the 1991 printing of "The Basket Counts" by the popular children's book author Matt Christopher. If you are in your twenties you may remember reading this compelling story of racial tension on the basketball court. To buy this original illustration, go to www.kmstudio.etsy.com

most excellent work - welcome to illustration friday!
beautiful rendering!
beautiful!!!!! Excellent first piece!
very fine work
the jug is very Lopez-garcia in feeling
Great rendering...like the profile pic effect too!
Very beautiful
Nice technique, beautifully rendered.
I'm trying to find something different to say about this piece. It is of course, excellently rendered, but it has a nostalgia about it and it creates a mood of wonderful childhood solitude. It is beautiful!

Really nice Karen. It's nice to see an effective use of a simple medium. This one has a sweet mood to it.
Thank you, neilornstein, I was not familiar with Lopez-Garcia. I'm glad to know the work!
oh i agree, this is great rendering!
Simply beautiful!
I especially like the unusual vantage points in addition to your great rendering skills.
Welcome to IF!
I love to see what people can do using the good ol' pencil. The light is beautiful in your drawings. Welcome to IF.
Thanks for your comment.
Glad you're doing I.F.!
This drawing is lovely. I'm absolutely in love with that drawing you have on the upper right hand corner of you (?) peeking out.
Amazing!
Welcome to IF. This is one beautiful pencil drawing. I agree with Alina on the rendering and add that the composition is great too.
